Not the Tip She Was Expecting

Living with a disability my entire life began to teach me things about life and humanity at an early age that many people don't learn until later in life. For instance, just how blatantly ignorant people can be. Even as a small child I had to deal with people (even grown adults) who treated me as though I had some kind of contagious disease that they could contract if they got too close to me. That's right.....adults who are so stupid they think that Cerebral Palsy is contagious. Yet I guess part of me is still naive enough to still have hope for humanity. (Don't laugh.)
And I say all of that to say this........
Earlier tonight I took one of my friends out to dinner, he has Epilepsy along with other disorders and is much more noticably disabled than I am. The way the waitress treated him was appalling. She treated this man whom I know to be very intelligent as though he were an idiot, acted as though she was disgusted to be near him, and every remark she made to him was sly and condescending. She even went as far as asking him if he would cry if she cleaned the table. WTF?
Well, when I went to pay the bill she decided now in the aftermath was the time to apologize, so the girl obviously knew she was in the wrong, but did she apologize to my friend? No. She only apologized to me, the person she was waiting on to hopefully leave her a tip. (Haha, fat chance)
The only tip I left her was to watch how she treated her customers, and that it wouldn't kill her to be less condescending.
